Dr. Wassim Alfares is a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with more than 11 years of experience in women’s health. He provides comprehensive care across obstetrics, general gynaecology, infertility assessment and minimally invasive gynaecological surgery. His clinical practice includes the management of both low-risk and high-risk pregnancies, with an emphasis on evidence-based, patient-centred care, clear communication and patient safety. In obstetrics, Dr. Alfares is experienced in managing different types of deliveries, including caesarean sections, and in performing cervical cerclage when clinically indicated. He supports women throughout pregnancy and childbirth by tailoring care to their individual medical needs and circumstances. His gynaecological expertise covers infertility work-up and a broad range of advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures. These include laparoscopic total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, myomectomy, ovarian cyst removal, intestinal adhesiolysis, isthmocele repair and laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy. He also performs hysteroscopic uteroplasty, myomectomy and polypectomy. Additional areas of practice include tension-free vaginal tape procedures for stress urinary incontinence, anterior and posterior colporrhaphy, and vaginal hysterectomy. Through minimally invasive approaches, he aims to support accurate treatment, appropriate recovery and improved patient comfort wherever suitable. Dr. Alfares earned his Bachelor of Medicine from Damascus University in 2010. He holds the Syrian Board in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, awarded in 2015, and the Arab Board Certificate in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, awarded in 2016. His professional experience spans healthcare institutions in Syria and the UAE, including Dar Al Tawleed, the Family Planning Association, Al Jdaydeh Specialist Hospital, Mamdouh Abaza Hospital and Thumbay Hospital in Ajman. This diverse background has strengthened his ability to care for women with varied clinical needs and to manage both routine and complex cases. Fluent in Arabic and English, Dr. Alfares is committed to helping patients understand their condition and available treatment options so that they can participate confidently in decisions about their care.
