Biography

Amulya Saxena is the Past President of the European Pediatric Surgeons’ Association (EUPSA), one of the largest pediatric surgical associations worldwide, and the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Pediatric Endoscopic Surgery. He is an experienced, award-winning Consultant in Neonatal and Pediatric Surgery, based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Imperial College London.

​Amulya Saxena received his pediatric and neonatal surgery training at the prestigious Medical University of Münster, Germany, before serving as Deputy Director of the Department of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Graz, Austria. Prior to this role, he was a Research Fellow in Surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He has gained substantial experience as a medical professional from numerous centers across Europe, America, and Japan.

In addition to performing general procedures, he specializes in the surgical management of conditions in premature and neonatal babies, as well as in the correction of complex congenital malformations. He has expertise in managing chest wall deformities (pigeon chest and funnel chest), advanced minimal access neonatal and pediatric surgery (laparoscopy and thoracoscopy), and pediatric gynecology.

​Amulya Saxena has been invited to perform advanced surgical procedures in over 20 countries and has won prestigious European and international awards for his scientific contributions to pediatric surgery. He is the editor of two textbooks, Essentials of Pediatric Endoscopic Surgery and Chest Wall Deformities. He has published several book chapters, numerous peer-reviewed articles in medical journals, and serves on the editorial boards of prestigious pediatric surgical journals.

​Amulya Saxena is the Director of European Laparoscopy and Thoracoscopy Courses in the United Kingdom, Latvia, Serbia, Romania, Azerbaijan, and Switzerland. He is the Chairman of the EUPSA European Consensus Statement Committee, the STEPS (Strategies and Trends in European Pediatric Surgery) Seminars, and a member of the WOFAPS (World Federation of Associations of Pediatric Surgeons) Scholarship Committee.

Research and Publication:

Participation in numerous surgical research projects with focus on Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, including the grant funded by the European Union EU Grant EuroSTEC – Soft tissue engineering for congenital birth defects in children.
