Dr. Mohammed Shaheer Pandara Arakkal is a UK-trained Consultant Gastroenterologist with more than 20 years of international clinical experience across the United Kingdom, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and India. He completed his specialist Gastroenterology training in the UK and holds several prestigious postgraduate qualifications, including CESR (UK, 2024), MRCP (UK), FRCP (UK), and ESEGH accreditation. He is also registered as a Specialist with the General Medical Council (GMC), UK. Before joining Medeor Hospital, Dr. Shaheer worked as a Consultant Gastroenterologist across various NHS Health Boards in the United Kingdom, where he gained extensive experience in advanced gastroenterology, hepatology, and complex endoscopic procedures. His clinical approach combines evidence-based medicine, advanced procedural expertise, and patient-centered care. Dr. Shaheer has comprehensive expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, with a special focus on advanced procedures such as ERCP, cholangioscopy, and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). His areas of expertise also include the management of complex gastrointestinal bleeding, advanced polypectomy, PEG insertion, stricture dilatation, capsule endoscopy, fluoroscopy-guided GI stenting, transjugular liver biopsy, hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) measurement, and endoscopic gastric balloon placement. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Shaheer has a strong background in clinical leadership, multidisciplinary team collaboration, quality improvement, and the development of safe and efficient endoscopy services. He is actively involved in clinical research, medical education, and mentoring junior doctors, gastroenterology registrars, and endoscopy staff. He also serves as a Royal College of Physicians (RCP) Assessor for CESR applications, contributing to specialist accreditation processes in the UK.
